Welcome Dinner on Sunday, 31 Juli 2011

On Sonday evening we had the opportunity to visit the traditional Viennese "Heuriger Feuerwehr Wagner". “Heuriger” is the Viennese term for the wine of the last grape harvest. And it is also the name of the places where this wine is served.

Reception at the Vienna City Hall on Monday, 1 August 2011
Monday evening, after the first day of negotiations in the committees, the delegates have been hosted by the Mayor of Vienna, Dr. Michael Häupl, in the impressive town hall. An official representative of the Viennese Government will welcomed the delegates. They had also the possibility to shake a leg and try out Viennese food.

Reception at the Spanish Riding School on Tuesday, 2 August 2011

On Tuesday evening you were invited by the Foreign Policy and United Nations Association of Austria (UNA-AUSTRIA) to a reception at their premises. The UNA-AUSTRIA is situated in the heart of Vienna, the "Hofburg", which is the old imperial palace. The club room, opened by Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger and former Austrian Federal Chancellor Wolfgang Schüssel in early 2010, is a meeting point for diplomacy. The club is located at "Stallburg" (= stables) of the Spanish Riding School with its world famous "Lipizzaner" horses. Small sandwiches and free drinks were provided.

On last day of our MUN, there will be a big party. The club "Platzhirsch" (= name usually used for a leading location in a town) is, due to its central location in the heart of Vienna (directly on the ring vis a vis of the State Opera), a very popular and trendy event hotspot. An exceptional atmosphere is offered due to the successful fusion of modernity and tradition. It was a great evening!
